This site started because I got tired of AI tool roundups written by people who’d never opened the tools. Every listicle said the same thing. Nobody tested anything. So I started testing them myself, the automation tools, the AI writing apps, the dev gear, the whole stack.
I’ve gone through dozens of AI tools this year alone. Some are genuinely good. A lot are overpriced wrappers around someone else’s API. I write about the difference, with real pricing and real tradeoffs. If a tool has a downside, I say so. That’s the whole point.
When I’m not testing software, I run Layered Media LLC, a digital services company. I’ve spent a long stretch of my career in government and commercial IT. None of that makes me special, it just means I’ve been in the trenches long enough to spot the difference between a real tool and a demo.
